Smt. S. Susheela

Smt. S. Susheela is a Senior Advocate practising before the High Court of Karnataka, India, with over four decades of professional experience. She is a trained mediator, having received specialised training in mediation from the Institute for the Study and Development of Legal Systems (ISDLS), USA, ADR-ODR International, UK, and the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine University, USA. She serves as a Master Trainer associated with the Karnataka Mediation Centre and the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India. Over the years, she has trained numerous judges, advocates, students, and professionals from diverse fields in mediation and conflict resolution. Smt. Susheela is the author of several books, including three acclaimed works on mediation: Mediation Reader's Handbook, Change Through Mediation, and Daily Mediation Thoughts. Her recent publication, Mastering Mediation Training, serves as a valuable resource for mediation trainers and capacity-building programmes. She was a member of the committee constituted by the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India to suggest draft legislation on mediation. Her recent English novel, I Am Reon, explores the complex and often troubled lives of children affected by parental conflict. Her other notable publications, including Hindu Marriage Act – A Treatise, Substantial Questions of Law, and Advocacy and Professionalism, have been widely appreciated by readers and legal professionals alike. She is a distinguished resource person for both the State Judicial Academy and the National Judicial Academy, and currently serves as a Professor of Practice at CMR University.
