Joel Unuigbe is a retired Major General of the Nigerian Army with over 35 years of distinguished military service and leadership experience spanning defence logistics, strategic planning, institutional management, and public-sector governance. During his military career, he held several high-level command and strategic appointments, including Chief of Defence Logistics at Defence Headquarters and Chief of Logistics, Headquarters Nigerian Army, where he oversaw complex logistics operations, resource management, and policy implementation at the national level. An accomplished scholar and strategist, he holds Master’s degrees in Strategic Studies and Legal and Criminological Psychology from the University of Ibadan and is an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School, USA. He has also served as a Directing Staff at both the National Defence College and the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, contributing significantly to the development of senior military leaders and national security professionals. Following his retirement from active service, Major General Unuigbe transitioned into agribusiness and currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ELJO Farms Limited. Under his leadership, the company has expanded its market presence, improved operational efficiency, and achieved sustained revenue growth through strategic partnerships, innovation, and effective supply chain management. A Fellow of several professional institutes, including the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (FCILT) and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria (FCIPSMN), he is widely recognized for his expertise in strategic leadership, logistics management, corporate governance, stakeholder engagement, and organizational development. His distinguished career has been recognized with numerous military honours and decorations, including the Grand Service Star, Distinguished Service Star, Meritorious Service Star, and ECOMOG Medal, reflecting a lifelong commitment to excellence, service, and national development.
